if you haven't heard about the nashville flood then feel free to catch up on the crazy news here, here, oh and here is good too.. it was bad. and as i was in touch with friends and family back in nashville and found out they were okay i was relived and thankful. and i didn't even think about my car. low and behold yesterday i found out that my car was indeed a casualty of the franklantis flood. {glad i kept all my stuff in my car! goodbye to a laptop, tons of clothes, books, cds, pictures, my poloroid camera, and irreplaceable peru notes and gifts i've received through all the years.}
oh and i kind of loved my car.
monique was sassy.
and had a mind of her own.
she didn't has ac or heating.
nor a working cd player.
yet she was still my fave.
happier days.
{and no i'm not that tall, just standing inside the car. oh monique, always lending a hand!}
this was 4 days after the flood.
4 DAYS!
she lived a good life.
stuck by my side through many a police run ins!
cue spice girls goodbye my friend?
yes.
thanks for letting me whine.
now wheres the wine.
kidding.. but for real, its time to forgetaboutit and have a kick ass sunshiney day. that no doubt contains lots of fro-yo. and no finals. and counting all the other blessings in my life! and maybe a trip to anthropologie? wanna give me a ride? {better get used to asking that!}

Chelsea that stinks so so so bad! I can't even imagine! Hope you have a lovely weekend though!
ReplyDeleteomgn that is really narley so much water!!!

ReplyDeletei think im the only one that swears in your comments. im such a rebel.
If if makes you feel better you can share my car? Her name is blueberry muffin. She is lavender. And now she is OURS!
oh your poor monique. such sadness. kudos to looking up at the sunshine. at least you'll save a whole bunch of moolah on gas. which means you will have more to spend at anthro.
ReplyDelete(a) i love that you named your car. i named mine sophie. (b) that sucks balls to loose your car and all that stuff! i would cry...then swear profusely and then cry some more! while i don't have the cash to send you a new laptop or polaroid camera let me know if i can contribute any books or cds to the chelsea relief fund!
ReplyDeleteDamn, girl! That sucks.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be as happy as you if that happened to me.
Good job on being positive!
Aw this is so sad! I'm so sorry that you lost your car and all your stuff inside :( It's really awful to see all the devastation caused by this flood, but it's even worse when people you know are impacted!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness!! i'm sorry!!
ReplyDeletewow, that's crazy! good for you for keeping such a positive attitude.
ReplyDeletexo Alison
i read this on your twitter, i told everyone around me about it, and patted my car, saying that i was sorry i talked so much crap on her.
ReplyDeleteim really sorry girl =/
I'm so sorry :(.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is hanging open in shock. So sad!
ReplyDeleteWow what a bummer!
ReplyDeleteYes, losing a car really is very sad... :(
Oh no!! That stinks! A least you got a sweet pic of her swimming:) I love naming cars! My truck is Kronk after Emperors New Groove. My friend has a red ford focus we call Slow Bones Jones and take road trips in her. We were thinking about making her a calendar and photoshop her into sweet places like Niagra falls and stuff.. haha! I would die without my car because Oregon is so big and all my nanny jobs are so spaced out and the kids would hate it if I couldn't take them anywhere.. Do you have plans of getting a new one? Why did you have so much stuff in her? haha
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your car! But glad you're all fine!
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, I love how positive you are about the whole thing. It stinks, but awesome that you choose to live life. :)
WHY GOD WHY? MONIQUE WAS TOO YOUNG! Why do you always take the best away from us before their time?!!!!
ReplyDeleteBummer.

ReplyDeleteHannah
Can't believe it! I'm so sorry. I've seen loads of footage, but 4 days after! This disaster is devastating to so many.

ReplyDeletebut i guess at the end of the day, it's people who really count right? :) like you said, at least your friends and loved ones weren't affected...
XXXOOO
that i so sad! but i love your attitude-whatever and move on...more people need to be like that. i think you'd like this quote from to kill a mockingbird that dill says, "there ain't one thing is this world i can do about folks except laugh".
ReplyDeleteNOOOO! Sorry about your car and all your irreplaceable personal belongings! That is really a bummer. I love your attitude about the whole situation though. Life is too short to dwell on the past. Hopefully, you have good insurance!
ReplyDeleteinvasionista
Oh goodness, being on the other side of the world we dont hear alot about stuff like that unless its like HUGE terrorist attacks or something haha. Or bombs. We always hear about american bombs! But! I am so sorry to hear that honey, I hope that things work out and the universe finds a way of getting you back some of the wonderful things you have lost. :( Maybe a mister chelsea will turn up in a red ferarri or something sexy like that and whisk you away to italy for the weekend? That would be fun {and totally plausible...right?}
ReplyDeleteWOW. thats crazy im sorry!! :/
ReplyDeleteAhh! I'm so sorry! When shitty things like this happen, I always try to say to myself "well, at least it makes for a good story." :P
ReplyDeleteomg, I AM SOO SORRY girl! i can't believe that happened to monique. =( fro-yo always makes me day go better too!!
ReplyDeletePoor, poor Monique. hahaha :P
ReplyDeleteYikes!! I hope you get lots and lots of sunshine from now on. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I am so sorry!
ReplyDeleteLady, you have one amazing attitude. I am so sorry about Monique!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. You don't realize how bad the flooding is until you see pictures like this. Sending good thoughts to the entire city!
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on in Nashville is nothing short of a tragety and it makes me so mad that the new (at least around me) are not covering it like they should. Haiti has a earthquake and the entire world sends out help for over a month. Nashville is under water and no one seems to care. Argh - how does that work out?!
ReplyDeleteAnyways - sorry to hear about your car! That is just crazy.
