"The most EXCITING, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the YOU you love, well, that's just FABULOUS."
this is one of my TOP 25 favorite quotes. and it might seem trivial or silly that a sex and the city quote made it onto my list amongst distinguished writers like Oscar Wilde and Ralph Waldo Emerson but that Carrie Bradshaw says some zingers that just get me!
And let me tell you.. on the bumpy road that is the relationship with myself i can knock myself down. sometimes i battle with my honker of nose. or my complete lack of grace and lack of supermodel length legs. i'll always laugh a little too loud. or be running a little bit late. But i guess at this time in my life i am finally {beginning to learn} how to celebrate my flaws. and it's quite
wonderful {and equally hard} I'm forgetting the idea of perfect all together.
that nose houses many freckles. that i love.
my tendency to be ridiculously stubborn.
my messy, unorganized desk/life.
my grace that will never be quite like Jackie O.
my frizzy hair that will never be styled just right.
that's me.
and {get ready for cheeseFEST 2010} i can't help but to throw my arms in the air and say "forget perfect" and be okay with my wildly and recklessly imperfect self.
so i hereby designate today to celebrate your wonderful imperfections.

Perfect, perfect. I love this post. And that quote! And I love flaws!!! xoxo

ReplyDeletei think carrie bradshaw is a wonderful insightful woman! well, character :) excellent quote! it seems as women we are always trying to make ourselves into who we should be, instead of celebrating who we are. hurrah!

ReplyDeletethis is so amazing. and so hard for so many people to learn. it is so good you can look at your flaws like pieces of you that make you you. because there's nothing more important than loving yourself.
