Ok, so i have to admit, amidst all my complaining and all the dreaming of cheese-men {yikes} being vegan really was kind of awesome. i can't stop thinking about how wonderful it was knowing all the fresh, and healthy things i was putting into my body! going vegan for a week really changes your outlook! and i am completely taken aback that it has impacted this much
{yes, i am writing this as i am eating a bagel slathered with cream cheese. i can't help it. all the free bagels last week got me addicted!}
so obviously i'm not ready to commit to a whole other week of eating vegan. but the DING {lightbulb} how about i eat ONE non-vegan food a day!! {and the rest of my meals will be dairy-free goodness!}
"what about cream cheese bagel for lunch and the grilled cheese for dinner and then some chocolate in between and the..." but then i remember how i feel after eating ALL of that verses tons of veggies and fruits. and i think "YES! i can" {thanks Obama!}
i love being a vegetarian, now lets see if i can love limiting my dairy intake as a lifestyle! and i remember everyone who said they can't live without cheese {hey, that was me 3 weeks ago!} and i'm thinking maybe this would be such a good way to "ease" into a vegan week. or to maybe just see if you can do it! so if you want, then you should join me on this adventure of becoming a flexitarian. aka. a semi-vegan!

{yes, i made those. and yes, they look like something a 5 year old did. blindfolded. with their left hand. but i still love them.}

I have toyed with being a vegetarian time and time again but it's always so hard (or maybe I'm just not will to work hard enough for it?). But what I try to do instead is to eat at least 1 meal a day without any meat. I always feel so great after eating a plate full of veggies!
ReplyDeleteI'm following you on twitter now! mertravels
And those cookies are adorable and look delish!
I'm in the same boat as you, lady! I've been eating vegan at least one meal a day...I feel so much better! Being vegan 100% all day every day is/was HARD. I like your idea :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute cookies! I think maybe I could do vegan one day a week! Not sure I could tackle an entire week though, good for you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am a semi-vegan too!
ReplyDeleteI go to the stores and try out all the meatless products in the "soy" section of the store and i research recipes for them and try them out.
I think I have only enjoyed 5 out of the 9 ive tried so far.
Gardein is a great brand of meatless chicken/beef.
For the beef though i recommend (if you're going to buy it) trying to marinate it in something like soy sauce or teriyaki because the original taste/sauce its off-putting.
p.s. the Almost Alice CD isnt out until March 2nd :( so long to wait
I love the cookies. They're so homemade and adooorable. Also I died at "{thanks, Obama!}" hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm I was veggie for 14 years, and I gave it up to move into residence at my university because I would have STARVED otherwise. I still rarely eat red meat though, and most of my days are vegetarian anyways. Old habits die hard, and all that.
I definitely try to have a lot of vegan foods in my diet, but never consciously plan vegan days. But maybe I will now! Super healthy...and leads to amazing new vegan recipes!!! xo
yeah, i'm a vegetarian, but i do not think i could survive as a vegan. waaaayyy too into cheese and milk that isn't from beans... i eat pretty healthy but vegan would be a stretch for me :)
ReplyDeleteyour cookies are adorable! and way to go with the veganism- i dont think i could since i love cheese and milk so much!
ReplyDeletewow, talk a bout a coinky dink! I have been starting my resolution of all around wellness and health for this year..and today, without even realizing it, I ate vegan all day (besides some cheese and yogurt..and it got me thinking and wondering how I would do going vgean for a w hile or partly vegan...and then i came home and read your post....so YEAH i'm gonna be a flexitarian! you are not alone :) I am soo ready for this adventure! cheers
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and it's really great! Oh food. I used to think I would never give up foods like cheese but now I haven't had any dairy in 6 months. It really is hard at first but it gets easier and easier. Adorable cookies!
ReplyDeleteohhh those cookies are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow I am so impressed with you. I dont think the Vegan lifestyle is for me but I could start with one Vegan meal a week haha.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with being "semi-vegan" ;) It can get tough at times but don't give up! Those cookies look delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think I'd be able to do it - kudos to you!
ReplyDeletemmmmmm bagel.
ReplyDeletei do love my dairy....but i might try being vegan for a week and see how that goes - i like your idea of 1 non-vegan thing a day :)
ReplyDeleteSheesh all this healthy eating power, this is one boat I should get on already! hahaha But I'm so weak?! Que hago?!
ReplyDeleteI've been cutting back on my coffee intake... and instead I have been enjoying Mighty Leaf Tea... my favorite is the chocolate mint truffle mmm!! Keep it going lady, and it's all about balance when it comes to yummy food, veggies and fruit.. but you know this!! Love this post!! xo
